Geena Rocero is a Filipino-American model, beauty pageant titleholder, and transgender rights advocate. She was born in Manila, Philippines, and competed in transgender beauty pageants there before moving to the United States. In 2014 she delivered a TED talk in which she publicly came out as transgender, and in 2015 she founded Gender Proud, an organization that works to advance the rights of transgender people worldwide. She has served as a producer on the documentary film Bone Black: Midwives vs. the South and is the author of the memoir Horse Barbie. She has modeled for brands including Rimmel London and has worked as a correspondent and producer for media outlets such as NowThis and Logo.
